Creative Writing Course: Week 1

  •  March 24, 2022
     5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

This 6-week course, taught by writer and editor, Judy Reveal, will focus on teaching students the art of creative writing. This interactive course allows students to work on, create, and improve on their own short story or piece of long-form writing. Topics will include: characterization, world-building, plot development, and more. Work on creating outlines, realistic characters, and natural plot advancement while learning the basics of creative writing.

By the end of the course, students will have either a polished short story or the the beginning chapters of a novel that students can continue to work on long after the class is over. Make friends with like-minded individuals and receive peer-edits from students with feedback and suggestions on how to make your story better.

Whether you’ve already started a story of your own and want a place to be able to talk about and expand on it, or you’re just starting off in the creative writing field, this is the class for you! Let the creative juices flow and become a better writer while getting the chance to talk to a published author.

Judith (Judy) Reveal was born in Chicago in 1945. Libraries and reading and writing have always been her passion. She spent 40 years wandering the corridors of Corporate America where business writing honed her skills including editing, proofing, and just plain writing. She has taught creative writing and currently freelances as a manuscript editor and book indexer. Judy works with writers as an editor and coach and has edited nearly 50 manuscripts, many of which have gone on to publication.
