I am a life-long Caroline County resident who grew up on a farm in Tuckahoe Neck and attended Caroline County Schools. I raised two children in Caroline County, both graduating from North Caroline High School. In 2006, I married Chuck Hayman, a retired surveyor, and we have made our home outside Greensboro since then.

My work experience has been focused on the land title industry as a title examiner and settlement agent for thirty-nine years. I have spent the same amount of time researching my family history and most recently acquired a great interest in local history.  I realized how little I knew about the past, my family’s connection to certain local areas and my desire to put that history in a format that would be interesting to family and friends – historical fiction.

In March 2024, I published my first book, ‘One Summer Night’.  It was a personal accomplishment that took three- and one-half years to complete. I celebrated with a book launch at the Cow Barn in Ridgely. Due to the amount of interest, I was encouraged to continue the story. My second book ‘One Summer Day’ was published at the end of November in 2024.

Over the past year, I have been the guest speaker at a few book clubs, won approval to sell my first book in the ‘Local Author’ section of Browseabout Books in Rehoboth and Bethany Beach Books.  Locally my books are sold at Clayton Farms, The Foundry and until recently at Ridgely Pharmacy.  The books are also available at all three branches of the Caroline County Library and both branches of the Queen Anne’s County Library.
