Joanne Gelles: A Mosaic Artist’s Journey

Originally from the D.C. suburbs, Joanne has called the Eastern Shore home for nearly 35 years, cherishing its relaxed pace and scenic waterfront vistas. Her journey into mosaics began two decades ago, igniting a lifelong passion for creative expression.

Joanne has studied under several renowned mosaic artists, including Kasia Polkowska of Gaithersburg, Laura Rendlen from Maverick Mosaics Art School in Virginia, and locally with Jen Wagner in Easton, Maryland. She has contributed mosaic murals to the Caroline County Council of Arts and has taught mosaic techniques, along with paint pouring, tie-dye crafts, painting, fairy garden houses, wire sculpting, and windchime making, both at the Foundry in Denton and various other local venues.

Her artworks have been featured and sold at prestigious locations such as the Treasure Chest in Oxford, Maryland, and the Foundry in Denton. Joanne specializes in Nature, Nautical themes, and Abstracts, offering custom commissions through her email (jobinky90@gmail.com) and Facebook page.
